Northvolt nominates Scanlog

June 6th 2021

Scanlog will handle the transports for Northvolt Ett, Europe’s first so-called gigafactory for lithium-ion battery production, which is currently being constructed in Skellefteå in Northern Sweden.

This reveals Swedish daily financial newspaper Dagens Industri today. Scanlog won Northvolt’s procurement in fierce competition with several of the world’s largest logistics companies.

– We are of course extremely happy and proud to have been entrusted with handling Northvolt’s international transport logistics, says Mathias Wideroth, Scanlog’s founder and chairman of the board. We have worked very intensively to develop a solution for Northvolt that is sustainable over time, and that is both cost-effective and reduces environmental impact.

The agreement with Northvolt is multi-year and means, among other things, that Scanlog will now expand its organization in Gothenburg, which is responsible for maritime transport.

– Our entire business concept is based on partnerships, with our customers of course, but also with suppliers and other players in the supply chain. We strongly believe that transparency creates value in today’s complex logistics set ups, and it is fantastic that Northvolt has chosen our model for cooperation as its own when the production in Skellefteå now starts on a large scale.
