Austrian Railways divest subsidiary to Swedish interests

Express Scandinavia has been acquired by Mr. Ulf Sundberg and Mr. Mathias Wideroth. The purpose of the acquisition is to launch a substantial expansion.
Rail Cargo Austria, the freight division of the Austrian Railways has sold its subsidiary Express Scandinavia AB to Swedish logistics veterans Mr. Ulf Sundberg and Mr. Mathias Wideroth, both with extensive experience from the Swedish and international forwarding- and logistics markets. Following the ownership change the company will change name to Scandinavian Logistics Partners AB.
The purpose of the acquisition is to launch a substantial expansion in order to offer the market a complete international forwarding and logistics group providing services by all four transportation modes, air & sea, road and rail freight.
“Scandinavian Logistics Partners will be a fully Swedish owned forwarding- and logistics group with extensive experience and a high level of competence, where all business unit directors will have an ownership stake, and the hand picked staff will have a substantial profit sharing” says Mr. Sundberg who will be Chief Executive Officer of the new group.
Mr. Ulf Sundberg, who previously headed up global forwarder Kühne+Nagel’s operations in Scandinavia continues, “We are convinced that our unique business model based on partnership will ensure our customers a superior level of service and an extraordinary commitment.”
As CEO Mr. Sundberg will take overall responsibility for the execution of the company’s growth strategy, whereas Mr. Wideroth will assume the role of Executive Chairman. Former managing director Mr. Fritjof Jonas in his new role as Director Rail Solutions will continue to develop the existing business and customers.
Scandinavian Logistics Partners will continue to represent Rail Cargo Austria and its subsidiary Express-Interfracht GmbH on the Scandinavian market.
